Madonna with Child – polychromed plaster – France – first half of the 20th century
Professionally shipped – more than 900 five-star reviews worldwide.
Religious sculpture of Mary with Child based on a design by the French sculptor Henri Bouriché (1826–1906).
Mary wears a crown and holds the Child Jesus close to her. The child rests with closed eyes against her shoulder as Mary tilts her head toward him. The ample cloak with gilded decoration and the floral relief decoration give the piece a striking presence.
Height 44 cm; in good condition with signs of aging and wear, slight paint wear and a lovely patina formed over the years.
