Description from the seller

Immaculate Conception of Mary – Plaster of Paris, painted – France – 1860-1900

Professionally shipped – over 900 five-star reviews worldwide.

Figurine of a praying Mary with a flower crown. She stands on a spherical base with stars, clouds and cherubs, and barefootly trampling the serpent, symbolizing the triumph over original sin. The inscription “Le 8 Décembre 1854” refers to the bull Ineffabilis Deus by Pope Pius IX regarding the dogma of the Immaculate Conception. Very fine modeling with attention to facial expression, drapery, and symbolism.

Height approx. 53 cm; good overall condition with light signs of wear and aging. Probably there was originally a crescent moon, but both points have broken off.

Please examine the photos carefully; they are part of the description.

Shipped with tracking.

Special offer with free shipping to Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, the Spanish mainland and the Portuguese mainland. Bidders from other destinations are of course welcome to bid; for them the usual shipping costs apply according to the destination.
