Description from the seller
Emerson Model 811 "Bullseye" - rare European 220V export version - ca. 1954-1956.
Offered here is an iconic mid-century design classic: the Emerson Model 811 (famously nicknamed "The Bullseye" or "The Cyclops" by collectors). This specific unit is a highly rare European export version, likely produced for the Italian market under license from Emerson Radio & Phonograph Corp., New York.
Unlike the standard US models that only run on 110V, this unit features an original voltage selector on the back (adjustable to 110, 125, 160, and 220 Volts). It is currently safely set to 220V. The back cover features the original Italian warning text, and the radio comes with its period-correct European brown plug.
Cosmetic: In very nice vintage condition. The ivory/cream Plaskon/Bakelite cabinet is completely intact with no cracks or deep scratches. The gold-colored "EMERSON" lettering on the front is beautifully preserved.
Tested (carefully powered up via a Variac) and the iconic, mystical red glow of the tuning dial works perfectly, creating a stunning ambient effect. Given its 70+ years of age, it is sold "as is" (a routine recap/service is always recommended for daily use). It may have had a service already at some time.
This export model features a classic 5-tube superheterodyne circuit, optimized for safe European operation. The tube configuration consists of:
12BE6 (Pentagrid Converter / Oscillator)
12BA6 (IF Amplifier)
12AV6 (Detector / AVC / Audio Amplifier)
50C5 (Audio Output)
35W4 (Rectifier)
Specifications:
Design Origin: USA (Produced for the Southern European market)
Year: Circa 1954 - 1956
Material: Plaskon / Bakelite / Plastic
Bands: AM (MW)
Dimensions: 25.4 x 14.5 x 12.7 cm
Weight: approx. 1.9 kg
A beautiful and atmospheric centerpiece for any vintage design or radio collector.
