Nutcracker - Brass

Antique English brass nutcracker, figural, man with hat, 19th/early 20th century

A charming and well-executed nutcracker made of cast brass in the form of a standing man with a hat and beard. The figure is relief-worked with clear facial features, a long coat, and the hat brim.

The two arms of the gripping tongs form the figure's legs, ending in rounded feet as a handle.

The object is engraved with “ENGLAND” on the underside of one of the arms, indicating British origin, presumably Late Victorian or Edwardian, circa 1880-1920.

The brass shows a beautiful, authentic patina that confirms its age.

The hinge joint still functions smoothly.
