Description from the seller
The Minolta X-700 MPS is an iconic 35mm SLR camera that hit the market in 1981. The letters MPS stand for Minolta Program System. This was at the time a revolutionary technology that allowed the camera to calculate both shutter speed and aperture completely automatically. As a result, this advanced SLR effectively became a simple point-and-shoot camera. The camera was even named “European Camera of the Year 1981” back then and remains to this day one of the most beloved analog cameras for both beginners and professionals.
Why is the Minolta X-700 still so popular today? Photographers still flock to the X-700 primarily because of its light weight (body made of high-quality plastic) and the excellent built-in light meter. It’s the ideal camera for learning film photography: you can start in the safe 'P' mode and as you learn more, switch to the 'A' or 'M' modes. Additionally, there is a huge range of affordable, razor-sharp vintage MD lenses available.
Power: Runs on two inexpensive and readily available LR44 or SR44 batteries. Without batteries the electronic shutter won't work.
