Gilot - Statue, Groot beeld herten - 42 cm - Bronze, Onyx

Large Art Deco sculpture of two deer, signed by the artist C. Jilot (sometimes spelled Gilot). The spelling Gilot appears on this sculpture. The deer are probably cast in bronze or patinated metal (regule), difficult to distinguish, mounted on a black marble pedestal frontally decorated with veined brown-orange marble. The sculpture is missing a small piece of marble at the back and two 'caps' at the bottom (see photos), both not disturbing the overall appearance. The sculpture has a few marks on the marble consistent with its age (see photos). Furthermore it is in good condition and a decorative piece for the interior. The piece probably dates from the period 1920-1960.
