Wooden jewelry box with pyroengraved decor of flowers in Art Nouveau style. The interior with blue velvet of later date and on the bottom the text: ‘décoré à l’orphelinat des arts’. Early 20th century. Includes a key.

The ‘orphelinat des arts’ is an orphanage with educational purposes established in Paris in 1880 for children of parents from the artistic milieu. This box is very likely decorated there.

In good condition. Small damages and restorations overall. The lock is working. See also the photos that form part of the description.

Houten sieradenkist met pyrogegraveerd decor van bloemen in Art Nouveau stijl. Het interieur met blauw velours van later datum en op de onderkant de tekst: ‘décoré à l’orphelinat des arts’. Begin 20e eeuw. Inclusief sleutel. 

Het ‘orphelinat des arts’ is een weeshuis met educatieve doeleinden opgericht in Parijs in 1880 voor kinderen van ouders uit het artistieke milieu. Deze doos is daar zeer waarschijnlijk gedecoreerd. 

In goede staat. Kleine beschadigingen en restauraties over het geheel. Het slot is werkend. Zie ook de foto’s die deel uitmaken van de omschrijving.
