Pair of oval wall frames in Spanish sterling silver with Petit Point scenes – 20th Century

Magnificent pair of small oval-silhouette frames for wall hanging, made in first-law Spanish silver. Each piece houses in its central area a delicate and aristocratic classical scene of ladies of the era in a garden setting, meticulously executed in the textile technique of petit point (fine cross-stitch embroidery) and protected by its original glass.

The outer contour of noble metal displays the official contrasts of Spanish goldsmithing: the five-point star, which legally guarantees a purity of first-law silver (915/925 thousandths), together with the maker’s identifying punch (visible in the close-up images of the edges).

As observed in the rear photograph, the back is manufactured in noble varnished wood, equipped with metal closure plates and a robust upper fixed triangular ring, ready to be hung directly on the wall.
