Islamic glass flacon with a spherical body and horizontal shoulder, covered in a raised diamond pattern from blowing in a mold, dating to the 8th–11th century AD, 84 × 75 × 75 mm, from a French private collection with provenance to Germany and a 1980 prior owner, in excellent condition.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Translucent yellowish glass flask with a spherical body, horizontal shoulder, and a rounded base with a recessed and slightly domed fund. The entire body shows a molded decorative pattern of relief diamonds, arranged in a grid pattern across three rows, obtained by blowing in a mold. Four small protrusions are present in the lower part of the body, from which lines emanate converging toward the center of the base. The upper part of the body is accented by a horizontal lip surrounding the glass at the shoulder’s onset. The cylindrical neck, wide, retains in places a fine filament of dark glass applied hot into a helicoidal groove. It ends with a straight rim cut and slightly softened. Relatively heavy and with thick walls, this glass preserves partial traces of golden iridescence as well as fine black particles trapped in its mass.
