AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Elegant Savonarola chair by Florentine artists in walnut wood.

Made in the middle of the 20th century in Italy, specifically in the Tuscany region.
The Savonarola is a folding chair, foldable like a book and made of serpentine-curved elements crossed in an X configuration. The backrest features the lily, Florentine symbol, while it is wrapped by floral decorations.

The term "Savonarola" derives from the name Girolamo Savonarola (1452 - 1498), during whose era this type of chair would date back; one is still preserved in his cell at the San Marco convent in Florence, where he lived from 1482 until his death.

In good overall condition, normal signs of wear and age (see photos). The chair has recently been restored with termite treatment and wax for wood preservation. Dimensions: 90 cm height x 60 cm length.
