Colima Pre-Columbian redware ceramic seated dignitary vessel, about 15 cm high, with ceremonial hairdress, incised details, loincloth and arm bracelets, naturalistic face with ear holes for ornaments and a tubular spout on a black glaze; left leg restored, manganese deposits, acquired in 2026 from a French auction house formerly in a French private collection, with authenticity certificate and Spanish export license.
Description from the seller
A superb and very rare Colima redware vessel with the shape of a seated dignatary with ceremonial hairdress with incised details. The figure is also wearing a loincloth and bracelets in his arms.. Very naturalistic face with prominent projecting nose, incised eyes and mouth and holes on his ears for the suspension of ornaments. Tubular spout on the black.
Dimensions: 15,00 cm
Condition: Good condition. Left leg restored ( see picture ). Covered with manganese deposits.
Provenance: French auction house. Formerly french private collection.
