Hand-knotted Azilal rug from the Azilal region, in the heart of the Moroccan High Atlas, produced by Labboho workshops. Renowned for their light ivory background and bright color touches, Azilal rugs are among the most cheerful and expressive Berber carpets. On an ivory, woolly, plush background unfold long vertical lines, black and fuchsia, that gently ripple across the full height of the rug. They are threaded with multicolored diamonds—green, orange, saffron yellow, turquoise and pink—like beads on a string, while thin colored branches evoke stylized botanical motifs. This airy, joyful composition, both graphic and poetic, gives the piece a decidedly contemporary character and a refreshing feel. The pink and ivory edging and fringe elegantly frame it all.
