Description from the seller
【Description】
Masahisa Fukase was a solitary giant of Japanese photography who fell into a coma following an accident in 1992 and passed away in 2012. His work has continued to gain international recognition posthumously, drawing renewed attention at the 2018 PhotoBook Awards retrospective category.
Hysteric Twelve is the twelfth volume in the photography book series published by fashion brand Hysteric Glamour, released in 2004. The book features a carefully selected body of images from Fukase's 1983 series Aruku Me ("The Walking Eye"), in which fragments of urban life — human silhouettes, birds, near-derelict landscapes — are bound together by Fukase's distinctive tension and poetics of solitude.
This copy is numbered 358 out of a limited edition of 700. The binding — a vivid yellow cloth hardcover with a silkscreen-style image printed directly onto the surface — demonstrates a high level of design sophistication and stands as a fine example of Japanese photobook publishing culture. This is a highly recommended title for collectors of Fukase's work, as well as those with an interest in Japanese photographic history and photobook culture.
