Attractive vintage Steiff lion "Leo" in a standing pose – classic from the 1950s/1960s

For sale is a characterful, original vintage lion from the renowned traditional brand Steiff. It is the popular model “Leo” in the classic, stationary pose made of velvet.

Material: body made of light brown velvet fabric (short-pile plush), the lush mane consists of dark brown mohair.
Details: Original fine plastic whiskers, two-tone eyes and a stitched salmon-colored nose with a black mouth line.
Identification: The original Steiff metal button (lens-head button) is firmly present in the left ear. The paper chest badge and the yellow fabric flag have been lost over the decades.
Condition:
The little lion is in good, loved vintage condition for its age. The velvet coat is largely clean and well preserved, with minimal, age-appropriate wear at the seam edges and the paw sides. The Mohair mane is wonderfully full and rich in color. The short velvet tail is reduced to a small, age-typical rubbed base at the rump (see close-up photos). An absolutely authentic and charming object for any discerning Steiff collection!
