Description from the seller
The SONY D-50 CD Player was the first portable compact disc player, released only shortly after the compact disc system was introduced, it represented a major technical achievement, and was of course “the world’s smallest compact disc player” at launch - 127 mm × 42 mm × 133 mm...
I have owned this unit since 1992 and occasionally connected it to my HiFi system with RCA leads via the power supply unit (Included) which has connections to connect the CD player to a amplifier. The capacitors inside the power supply unit were replaced last year.
The unit includes features such as track skip, search, time remaining and pause including A time readout for the track in play, The D-50 remained in production for some years and the later versions (like this one) - can be easily identified as they have a green power switch.
The Sound Quality of this player is AMAZING!
Sony really wanted to show just what a Compact Disc was capable of. The electronics in this unit are of a very high quality and the unit is known for its tank-like build and audiophile-grade sound, this iconic device prioritized fidelity. Its geometric, square design featured an elegant, glossy black or sporty red finish with a transparent Perspex window on the lid, allowing listeners to watch the disc spin. It feels reassuringly heavy and dense, with a solid metal bottom panel that gives it a highly durable, "built-like-a-tank" feel compared to modern plastic portables Audiophiles and reviewers consistently praise the D-50 for its uncompromising audio performance.
