Description from the seller

Small sculptural solid-wood folding stool.
Ancient artisanal work, probably Mexico, second half of the 20th century. A cross-shaped, foldable structure made without hardware, composed of two interlocking pieces.
The surface features remarkable gouge-carved work, creating an irregular and expressive relief. The slightly sunken seat and compact proportions give the piece a sculptural presence, reminiscent of certain Mexican modernist productions from the 1960s–70s.
This piece recalls the creations of Don Shoemaker, and in particular his interest in primitive forms and modern interpretations of traditional furniture.
Overall good condition with a patina consistent with age and use.
