Appia table lamp by Arteluce, attributed to Matteo Thun, Italy, from the early 1990s, in white and built from glass, aluminium and plastic with a single fitting and satin glass diffuser.
Description from the seller
Matteo Thun (attributed) for Arteluce – Appia – Table Lamp – Italy, 1990s
Elegant Appia table lamp, produced by Arteluce / Flos and attributed to the Italian designer Matteo Thun. The model belongs to the PAO design family, developed in the early nineties, of which Appia represents a variant characterized by the same satin glass base and a different diffuser.
The lamp stands out for its elegant Italian postmodern design: conical diffuser in satin opal glass, cylindrical red lacquered stem, circular satin glass base. The overall composition creates a pleasing balance between geometric rigour and the softness of the materials, typical of Matteo Thun's design language in the nineties.
At the bottom there is the original Arteluce – Made in Italy mark, confirming Italian production during the Arteluce-Flos period. The PAO family is documented as a project from 1991 and was in production from 1993.
Conditions
The lamp presents in overall excellent condition. Glass and structure are well preserved. There is only a small nick on the edge of the glass base, hardly visible and not compromising the overall aesthetics of the piece. Normal and very slight signs of use compatible with its age.
Dimensions
* Height: about 40 cm
* Base diameter: about 15 cm
* Diffuser diameter: about 20 cm
Provenance
