Description from the seller
Elegant vintage padded pouf dating from the 1950s, a splendid example of Italian craftsmanship and furniture design of the Mid-Century Modern period.
The object stands out for its elegant organic and kidney-shaped line, a sinuous profile strongly inspired by the taste and contemporary creations of great masters of Italian interior architecture such as Gio Ponti, Federico Munari and Ico Parisi.
The structure is supported by four splendid tapered legs in solid wood with a light, natural finish, slightly flared, which confer on the piece that typical visual lightness and the floating geometric momentum of high‑level design from the 1950s.
The upholstery was probably replaced in the 1990s; it is in good condition but clearly not new.
A piece with enormous potential for appreciation. The fluid silhouette and the purity of the tapered legs make it the ideal candidate for a sartorial restoration: reupholstered in a premium velvet (e.g., forest green, mustard or midnight blue) or a tactile bouclé fabric, it can be transformed into a high-end accent piece for contemporary bedrooms, boudoirs, or living rooms.
