Description from the seller
Mid-Century Oval Coffee/Smoking Table (Ico Parisi / Osvaldo Borsani Style) – 1950s/60s
Splendid and elegant mid-century coffee table, characterized by a refined oval shape and a line typical of the great Italian design of the 1950s and ’60s. The design combines organic warmth and industrial rigor, recalling the style of famous designers of the era such as Ico Parisi or Tecno productions by Osvaldo Borsani.
Top: Made of veneered wood (probably mahogany or rosewood) with a beautiful natural grain arranged in a radiating/flame pattern, visible in detail in photos DSC_0007.JPG and DSC_0013.JPG.
Structure and Base: The top is supported by a sturdy central cylindrical metal post painted matte black, which ends in a refined four-branch base in brass or gold-toned metal equipped with adjustable and swiveling feet (visible in DSC_0009.JPG and DSC_0012.JPG).
This chromatic and tactile contrast between the warmth of the wood, the black of the structure and the gleam of the gold base makes the table a visually striking piece of furniture, perfect for vintage living rooms or contemporary interiors.
Condition of the Item
The table presents in good vintage structural condition, solid and stable. Being an antique object, it shows normal signs of time that testify to its authenticity:
Top surface: There are light superficial scratches and a slight patina of wear over time on the shiny finish (as highlighted in the close-up photo DSC_0013.JPG). A light polishing or waxing will maximize its original splendor.
Lower section (Bottom): As clearly shown in the photos taken with the table overturned (DSC_0014.JPG, DSC_0015.JPG and DSC_0016.JPG), the underside in rough wood shows light blotches of bloom from the old finish/moisture on the surface and a partially visible geometric mark in one corner. This part is not visible when the table is normally positioned.
Base: The metal frame and the four-branch base display a beautiful vintage patina (visible in DSC_0009.JPG).
Form: Oval (visible in the overall view in DSC_0008.JPG and DSC_0011.JPG)
Height: Low coffee/ smoking table.
