Description from the seller
Evening handbag with integrated watch in 800 silver and Bijou movement, early 20th century
Description
Refined feminine evening purse dating to the early decades of the 1900s, characterized by a rich 800 silver mount finely chased and by an original watch integrated into the upper structure (both the mount and the watch carry the assay mark).
The mount features an Art Nouveau style decoration with vegetal scrolls, floral motifs, peacocks facing each other, and a central feminine mask, elements typical of the Belle Époque.
The purse is made of semi-transparent fabric decorated with black velvet polka dots, completed by an original chain for hand carry. Inside there is a small removable watch signed “Bijou,” with a 800 silver case punch-marked and a movement indicated as “Cylindre Remontoir 10 Rubis.” The back cover bears a refined relief decoration depicting a female figure with a child.
A highly collectible object that unites fashion, jewelry, and watchmaking in a single era-appropriate accessory.

Curiosity
Purses with integrated watches represent one of the most elegant expressions of women's fashion during the Belle Époque. They were made for a wealthy clientele and allowed ladies to check the time without pulling a separate pocket watch from a pocket. The presence of the silver mount and the 10‑ruby movement adds further historical and collectible interest to the item.
