Description from the seller
Jaguar - XK 150 DHC - 1959 - Long Term Ownership - Technical 100% - Rally Prepared
BODYWORK / PAINT
This Jaguar XK150 3.4 SE Drop Head Coupé is presented in its original and highly attractive Burgundy Red colour scheme. Originally delivered new in the United States, the car has been in the Netherlands since 1981 and has had only two owners during that period.
The bodywork remains in solid condition with good panel fit and shows no significant signs of corrosion. The paintwork has seen better days and shows clear signs of age and use. Various cosmetic imperfections are visible throughout the vehicle, making a repaint desirable for buyers seeking a higher cosmetic standard. Importantly, the underlying bodywork remains solid, with only minimal surface corrosion visible in isolated areas and no indications of major rust issues.
Chrome components including the bumpers, grille, trim and exterior brightwork remain in good condition with only minor signs of age. The glass and seals present well and contribute to the car's attractive overall appearance.
The car sits on wire wheels, which were renewed during the extensive restoration work carried out in 2003-2004. The wire wheels remain in good condition and perfectly complement the elegant lines of the XK150.
TECHNICAL CONDITION
Technically, this XK150 is in very good condition and benefits from an exceptionally well-documented maintenance history. Between 2003 and 2004, the car underwent an extensive mechanical restoration by renowned Jaguar specialists, with invoices exceeding €30,000.
During this work, the original 3.4-litre SE engine was completely rebuilt by a specialist machine shop. The work included a full overhaul of the cylinder head, crankshaft, pistons, liners, valves, valve guides, bearings and numerous internal components. The cooling system was extensively refurbished with a rebuilt water pump and related components, while the electrical system received a new wiring harness.
At the same time, the braking system was comprehensively renewed, including brake calipers, discs, hoses, master cylinder, vacuum components and brake lines. The gearbox was replaced and upgraded during the restoration together with a new clutch assembly and balanced aluminium flywheel.
The engine starts easily both cold and warm and runs smoothly with good oil pressure and strong performance. The manual gearbox shifts smoothly and precisely, while the clutch operates correctly. The vehicle is capable of long-distance touring and has been maintained continuously by Jaguar specialists including Kolvenbach, Imparts and Car Service Alex.
Over the years, further investments included a new aluminium fuel tank, rebuilt dynamo, new windscreen, renewed tires, dashboard improvements, electrical repairs and regular servicing. Numerous maintenance invoices are available documenting the work carried out.
Brakes, steering and suspension all function properly, resulting in a comfortable and confidence-inspiring driving experience.
INTERIOR
The interior is finished in Burgundy Red and presents very well. The dashboard, woodwork, headlining and carpets are all in good condition and show signs of careful ownership.
The seats have been replaced by a previous owner and are therefore not original to the vehicle. They remain in good condition and fit the character of the car well. The remainder of the interior retains its original atmosphere and charm. The wood trim remains particularly well preserved and contributes significantly to the classic Jaguar appearance.
The convertible hood is in good condition and functions as intended. Instruments and gauges are operational and present well. The interior shows normal signs of use consistent with the age of the vehicle while remaining highly presentable throughout.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
