Table - Walnut - 19th century

Original antique low pedestal coffee table in solid walnut wood, characterized by a round top (slightly oval) entirely hand-carved with a rich geometric and central floral motif in the shape of a rosette, surrounded by incised concentric circles and a festooned perimeter edge. The central shaft has a very elegant fluted column form, widening at the base with beautiful stylized leaf carvings before blending into the solid, shaped foot. This type of furniture is often used as a side coffee table (end table), a practical catch-all table, or as an elegant plant stand/pedestal to enhance sculptures and plants. The table has undergone a thorough conservative restoration, star-late, filled and wax-polished with professional wax.
