French solid mahogany walking cane from circa 1910–1920 in good used condition, featuring a crook-shaped handle, a decorative silver collar, and geometric leaf or lozenge inlays under the handle.
Description from the seller
Walking cane structured in three main parts: Handle designed in a semicircular "hook" shape (also known as the Crook model), curved in a single continuous piece with the shaft. The finish shows a smooth curvature and a rounded termination to ensure a comfortable grip. Linear, cylindrical shaft and slightly tapered downward. It is made of dense dark mahogany solid wood, which presents an antique patina. Under the handle there is a decorative collar in polished silver (assayed by the goldsmith) with a snap-fit and fixed individually to the wooden shaft by small metal brads visible at the pointed ends. The design is geometric and stylized, characterized by leaf-shaped or diamond-shaped plaques interlocking that wrap around the wood, a detail that serves as a high-quality ornamental feature. At the base there is a dark protective tip to preserve the wood from ground wear. French manufacture produced in the first half of the 20th century (1910/20) Art Nouveau (Liberty style) or the very early Art Deco. Size: length: 87 cm.
