Display cabinet - Burr walnut

The piece is a three-compartment sideboard with curved glass doors on the sides (often also defined as a buffet or salon sideboard), made in the Transitional / Louis XVI style (inspired by French models from the second half of the eighteenth century, but produced as high-end cabinetmaking furniture between the late 19th century and the first half of the 20th century).

As confirmed by the original label on the back (IMG_8041.jpg), the furniture comes from the historic antique gallery P. & G. Pecorella - Arte Antica, located at Piazza S. Pasquale 17-19 in Naples, testifying to its excellent provenance selection in the 1970s.

Structure and Lines (Transitional Style)
The piece features a moving yet geometrically rigorous structure:

The central body is advanced and linear, dominated by a wide square blind door.

The side bodies are set back and present a splendid curved line (bulged in a semicircle) with glass-fronted doors equipped with original curved glass, a historically complex and costly workmanship.

The furniture rests on sturdy onion-shaped feet (flattened) or spools, lacquered in black, coordinated with the columns.

2. Woods and Cabinetmaking
The quality of the piece is evident from the extraordinary selection of woods and the decorative treatment:

Burled walnut or poplar burl: The main panels display a symmetric flame of the burl in an "open grain" pattern, creating natural mirror-like designs of strong visual impact.

Inlay and Veneering: The upper perimeter (under the top) is decorated with an inlaid band of continuous geometric motifs ("in chain" or love knots).

At the center of the main door stands a refined rosette inlaid with dense vegetal and geometric motifs in light woods (maple or burr).

Bronze Elements and "English-style" Details: On the sides of the central door are two half cylindrical ebony-coated (black) columns topped with capitals and in gold-bronze, finely chased. The keyholes and internal bolts are also in worked bronze.

3. Interior
The interior of the piece is completely lined with light damask fabric in classical floral motifs (San Leucio style), echoing ivory and gold tones. The side compartments are fitted with shaped shelves, also lined, ideal for displaying porcelain and fine silverware.
