AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Authentic Roman intaglio in red jasper.
Estimated dating: 2nd or 3rd century AD.
It is very smooth and in good condition except for a double chip on the top of the motif. This wear of time does not affect the motif of this red jasper intaglio.
The motif depicts a victor saluting with his right hand and who has removed his helmet (or other headgear) and holds it down with his left hand.
It was either worn as a pendant with a gold bezel, or set in a signet-ring mount intended for a personal seal.
Red jasper intaglios are sought after because they are rarer and offer a different appearance.
This artifact measures 17 mm × 10 mm × 2 mm.
It can be re-set in a ring.
