Description from the seller
Very decorative and particularly antique surveying instrument: a French theodolite by H. Morin, 3 rue Boursault, Ateliers H. Morin & Gensse in Paris. This type of precision instrument was formerly used by surveyors, engineers and topographers to accurately measure angles during field surveys, construction projects and cartography.
The object has a beautiful industrial and scientific appearance, with a metal telescope, engraved scale graduations, adjustment screws, a spirit level and original inscription on the tube. The patina, oxidation and signs of use give the instrument a lot of character and make it a real eye-catcher.
Nice as a collector’s item for lovers of antique measuring instruments, scientific instruments, industrial decor, surveying or the history of technology. Also especially suitable as a decorative piece in an office, library, workshop, man cave or shop interior.
The instrument is in used antique condition, with visible signs of aging, oxidation and wear as shown in the photos. Not tested for technical accuracy; sold as a decorative and collectible object.
