HISTORY/DOCUMENTATION:
This unique Triumph TR6 has a special history and rare specifications. Unlike many examples, this car was not delivered to the United States, but to its home country, Great Britain. On 18 March 1974 the car was newly delivered to a British serviceman. By 1977 the car was imported to the Netherlands, where it remained in the same owner’s possession until 2025. That’s a full 48 years!
What is also notable is that the first owner did not opt for Overdrive, but for a limited-slip differential. This is a sought-after upgrade that improves handling. The 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine also features a smooth fuel-injection system. It is otherwise an unrestored and very solid car. Recently there has been generous investment in the car both technically and cosmetically.
The Triumph comes with a folder full of documentation including manuals, maintenance invoices, registration papers, and even the original tools. Two sets of keys are also included. In 2026 the TR6 was appraised at value of €34,000, and the car was verified as “a very good-condition car with normal signs of wear.”
EXTERIOR:
A true head-turner: the gorgeous lines of the Triumph TR6 are perfectly showcased by the stunning color “Saffron Yellow.” The stylish alloy wheels, sourced from a Lotus Europa, give the car extra character. These wheels have been on the car since import to the Netherlands in 1977. They have recently been fully refurbished and fitted with five new Vredestein Sprint Classic tires, representing a cost of about €2,000.
The full wheel set is therefore nearly in new condition. Additionally, new bumpers have been mounted and the headlights, lighting, indicators and city lights have been renewed. The rare white front indicators give this TR6 an extra distinctive detail. Door rubbers have also been replaced and in 2025 a new mohair soft top was installed.
On the back there is a practical and stylish luggage rack. The paint shows normal signs of use and is free from noteworthy damage or dents. Both the chrome work and the lighting are in neat and well-kept condition.
INTERIOR:
The interior of the Triumph TR6 is maintained and largely renewed. Immediately noticeable are the beautiful brown leather seats, in very good condition. The dashboard is elegantly finished with rosewood and is also in excellent condition, with no notable damage.
The door panels are covered in brown leather, giving the interior a warm and luxurious look. The original Smiths instruments function correctly; the odometer and speedometer have been professionally refurbished, with the odometer also calibrated.
The car is equipped with the originally supplied optional heating and also features a radio, plus various practical upgrades including seat belts, a safety switch for the fuel pump, new carpets, a new leather shift knob cover, updated window cranks and a USB socket. A wooden sport steering wheel is installed; the original wheel is included with the car.
The trunk area also makes a neat impression. Under the double floor there is space for the spare wheel, and the trunk lining has been renewed. The original tools, including the original jack, are still present.
TECHNICAL:
Technically, this Triumph TR6 has been thoroughly maintained and has received extensive attention in recent years. In 2025 almost €4,000 was spent on major refurbishment, including renewal of coolant hoses, front brake blocks, main and auxiliary cylinder, clutch, heater valve and gearbox mount.
In April 2026 more than €1,000 was invested in a new fuel line and filter, a new filter housing and various hose couplings. The water pump, thermostat and air filter have recently been replaced. The twin horn and the windscreen washer were renewed as well.
The fuel tank has been professionally renovated, primed and finished with a durable 2K coating. The chassis presents as strong and damage-free and shows no welds, as far as can be observed. Photos of the underside are included in the photo report. The car is also equipped with an oil cooler and adjustable shock absorbers.
PI stands for Petrol Injection, meaning the engine uses no carburetors but a mechanical injection system (Lucas injection) that delivers fuel under pressure directly to the cylinders. The more powerful, direct and sportier injection version of the Triumph TR6 is loved for its character and performance.
In terms of handling, this TR6 is impressive: starting, shifting and braking operate smoothly and as they should. The driving experience is especially pleasant thanks to the available limited-slip differential, which was revised in 2024. This differential provides better traction, less wheel spin and greater stability in corners, especially on wet roads or during spirited driving.
Power is distributed more effectively to both rear wheels, resulting in a predictable and confident driving experience. The limited-slip differential is therefore a popular upgrade among TR6 enthusiasts, especially in combination with a modified suspension or extra engine power.
GENERAL:
The Triumph TR6 is a sports car manufactured by the British company Triumph from 1968 to 1976. It followed the Triumph TR5 and was produced as a convertible with a folding roof. The TR6 was popular due to its sporty appearance, good performance and relatively affordable price. The car was powered by a 2.5-liter six-cylinder engine.
The TR6 was also one of the first cars to feature standard disc brakes on all four wheels. In total, more than 94,000 TR6s were produced, making it one of Triumph’s best-selling models ever. Today the TR6 remains a popular collectible and classic-car enthusiast choice.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
