Description from the seller
Lot Description:
Elegant two-body trumeau cabinet, made in Italy in the mid-20th century in perfect Louis XV style (Barocchetto). The piece features a solid walnut structure, fully veneered and enriched with refined inlays in maple and fruitwoods.
Structure Analysis:
Upper body (Alzata): Characterized by a contoured, breakfront pediment. The two doors feature central inlaid panels with motifs of a “galant scene” (figures in bucolic landscapes) surrounded by floral frames. Inside there are shaped shelves.
Central body (Ribalta): The drop-front door, also richly inlaid with a central medallion, opens to reveal a small compartment with four small drawers and a central void. The writing surface is wide and functional.
Lower body (Base): Follows the contoured line of the structure with three large front drawers. The base ends with saber feet typical of the eighteenth-century style.
Technical Details and Condition:
Hardware: Original handles and escutcheons in cast and chased bronze with Rocaille motifs.
Condition: The piece presents in excellent vintage condition. The structure is solid. There are light and normal signs of wear on the polish and small superficial scratches consistent with its age (visible in the close-up photos), which do not affect its aesthetic value but attest to the authenticity of the period.
Keys: One working key present.
