Description from the seller

“Scavo” apothecary vase in artistic Murano glass – 1970s

Fascinating apothecary vase made entirely by hand in Murano during the 1970s, expression of Venetian glassmaking tradition and the mastery of its artisans. The distinctive scavo effect work gives the piece the evocative appearance of an ancient relic, enhancing its timeless charm and character.

The glass, in delicate ivory shades with gentle golden tones, is embellished with refined hand-made decorations that frame the central inscription with elegance and refinement. The lid, finished with an original lemon-shaped knob also handmade, adds further personality to this extraordinary decorative object.

The light irregularities of the surface and the natural variations in the decorations attest to the authenticity of the craftsmanship, making each piece unique and unrepeatable.

A piece of great charm, ideal for enriching both classic and contemporary interiors, perfect as a collectible item as well as a significant decorative element.

Era: 1970s
Material: artistic Murano glass
Finish: scavo effect with hand-applied gold decorations
Craftsmanship: entirely handmade by the Murano glass masters
Use: highly prized decorative and collectible object.

Seller's Story

I was born and raised on the island of Murano, where glass is not simply a material, but a tradition that is lived every day. Since childhood I breathed in the warmth of the furnaces and watched the master glassmakers transform incandescent matter into shapes, colors and light. C growing up in Murano means learning early to recognize the value of true artistic glass: weight, transparency, murrine, the small imperfections that make each piece unique. This knowledge, developed in a family and artisanal setting, today allows me to select only authentic works, handmade on the island according to traditional techniques. Each creation I present – vases, sculptures, decorative objects and lamps – is born from entirely manual work, without industrial molds. Color, shape and texture variations are not defects, but the signature of the artisan who made each single piece. All works come with a certificate of authenticity, guaranteeing their origin and quality. My objective is to offer not mere objects, but authentic fragments of Murano’s history, destined to endure over time and to bring into my clients’ homes the beauty and value of Venetian craftsmanship.
