An antique Italian cane from around 1880 with a 0.800 silver cast bust of David as the grip, a neoclassical silver mount, a black lacquered Malacca shaft, total length 97 cm including the handle, handle 9 x 6 cm, in good used condition with a small crack in the bust.
Description from the seller
Antique Italian cane from around 1880 featuring a solid silver knob molded in the shape of David's bust, a masterpiece by Michelangelo created between 1501 and 1504. The knob is artistically modeled representing a Romanesque bust. The knob material is silver 800 or sterling silver.
This piece presents a neoclassical style and is a silver representation of Michelangelo's David bust. The design captures the distinctive features of the original Italian Renaissance sculpture, such as the highly detailed curly hair and the intense, serious, and focused expression, elements characteristic of Michelangelo's original design aimed at conveying the pre-battle tension.
The cane remains straight and shows a pleasant patina from age. The silver mount retains an attractive appearance with light surface wear consistent with age and use.
There is a small crack on the front as seen in photograph 7, which does not alter the beauty or function of the piece. Please examine the photos closely as they form part of the description.
A decorative Neoclassical cane that combines elegant proportions, unusual silverwork, and high-quality craftsmanship. The decorative emblem and the high-quality silver-mounted handle make it an especially attractive example of late 19th-century design.

Handle: 9 cm x 6 cm
MATERIAL: In contrasting 0.800 silver and black-lacquered Malacca cane (with mark or hallmarks - see photo)
