Description from the seller
This is a piece that preserves that solemn and almost diplomatic air of humidors made for tobacco houses with international ambitions. The box, crafted in reddish, richly polished mahogany, displays on the exterior a sober yet elegant finish: incised lines framing the two front doors and, at the center of each, the engraved coat of arms of C.E. Beck and Co., the German firm established in Havana at the beginning of the 20th century, when Cuba was the epicenter of fine tobacco. Beneath the doors, the inscription “30 Placeres” recalls the original contents, almost like a period promise.
When opened—and here you can see the quality of construction—the interior appears in Spanish cedar, the traditional wood for preserving cigars because of its aroma, stability, and humidity-regulating capacity. The contrast between the exterior mahogany and the interior cedar is warm, almost architectural, as if the box were designed to be both a container and a small tabletop piece of furniture.
The condition is exceptional: the wood retains its shine, the hinges operate smoothly, and the original key, still present, adds that touch of authenticity that seldom survives a century of life. It is a humidor that speaks not only of the history of Cuban tobacco but also of the foreign presence that helped spread it, and today it stands as a collectible object with a quiet, perfectly preserved elegance.
Certified shipping and careful packing.
