Large Dogon stake of 75 cm showing a male figure.
He is bearded and wearing a pointed hood.
The arms are raised in the manner of the Tellem.
The wood is dense and heavy.
The bottom of the post is conical, intended to be driven into the ground.
This type of totem placed in front of dwellings was believed to serve as protection.
The whole is in good condition.
From the Bandiagara region.

Grand piquet Dogon de 75 cm montrant un personnage masculin.
Il est barbu et vetu d'un bonnet en pointe.
Les bras sont levés à la manière des Tellem.
Le bois est dense et lourd.
Le bas du poteau est de forme conique, destiné à être planté au sol.
Ce genre de totem disposé devant les habitations était censé servir de protection.
L'ensemble est en bon état.
