Censer - Porcelain

This is a highly distinctive piece of Ru ware from the Song Dynasty. The base features the standard five-nail, three-legged design of the imperial court. Ru ware is considered the foremost of the five great kilns of the Song Dynasty (Ru, Guan, Ge, Ding, and Jun), and is hailed as the pinnacle of Chinese celadon development. It is renowned for its warm, sky-blue glaze and was historically used exclusively for imperial porcelain production in the Northern Song Dynasty. Due to its extremely short production period (approximately 20 years) and destruction during the Song-Jin wars, surviving pieces are extremely rare and have been regarded as priceless treasures throughout history.
