19th Century French Furniture & Works of Art Auction

An exceptionally rare pair of antique cylindrical storage boxes made from highly refined straw marquetry (marquetage de paille), dating from the early 19th century (Napoleonic period, ca. 1800–1815). This type of refined craftsmanship was often produced by French prisoners of war during the Napoleonic wars. Damaged as shown in the photo.

Een uitzonderlijk zeldzaam paar antieke, cilindervormige opbergdozen gemaakt van uiterst verfijnde stro-marqueterie (marqueterie de paille), daterend uit de vroege 19e eeuw (Napoleontische periode, ca. 1800-1815).
