Asante/Ashanti wooden stool from Ghana in the Akan tradition, with the Adinkra symbol Gye Nyame at the center, dating to 1970–1980, measuring 29 cm wide, 20 cm high and 11 cm deep, in good condition with two lacquer coats and some flaking.

Asante / Ashanti stool – Ghana (West Africa)
A distinctive hand-carved wooden stool from the Akan tradition, with in the center the Adinkra symbol Gye Nyame (“Except God”).
The stool has a traditionally shaped crescent seat and geometric carvings. In Akan culture, the stool stands for status and spiritual connection.
Dimensions: 20.5 cm high × 29 cm wide × 11 cm deep
Weight: 1140 grams
Condition: good. The stool is coated with two layers of lacquer (base yellow with black over it). In some areas the lacquer has peeled off, as visible in the photos.
