Artistic details and maintenance: Splendid example of Italian textile craftsmanship from the era, originating from an old bridal trousseau. The set features a rich decorative frill with hand-made floral motifs (roses) executed in Shaded Satin Stitch (Punto Pieno Sfumato / Punto Pittura), enhanced by details in Needlepoint Stamp/Grassy Stitch and Daisy Stitch in delicate tones of pink, yellow and sage green. The embroidery is magnificently framed by geometric openwork inserts in Square Stitch (Punto Quadro) achieved by pulling and tying linen threads by hand with millimetric precision. A refined Daylight Hem (Punto Giorno) finishes the entire lower frill.

This is a “new from the trunk” piece, kept intact for decades within a family trousseau and never washed or used. The fabric feels stiff to the touch (with the characteristic finish of new linen), perfectly intact, pristine and free of halos, wear, or humidity stains. The embroidery is intact and the threads retain the original vivid colors of the era.
