Contemporary beechwood chair ‘Red and Blue’ designed by Gerrit Rietveld and manufactured by Cassina in Italy, circa 1980–1990, with a beechwood frame stained aniline, yellow ends, a blue lacquered seat and a red lacquered back, dimensions 88 cm high by 83 cm deep by 65.5 cm wide, weight 10 kg, in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear.

Elegant and decorative at the same time, the «Red and Blue» chair designed by Gerrit Thomas Rietveld in 1918 for his new furniture store.
This chair constitutes one of the early explorations of the De Stijl artistic movement and Neoplasticist aesthetics, a conceptual masterpiece; it is one of the principal examples of Neoplasticism, in three dimensions, reshaping the history of furniture as well as architecture.
Edition by Cassina, beech structure stained with aniline, ends lacquered yellow, a blue-lacquered seat and a red-lacquered back.
The seat is in good condition, with a few typical marks.
Chair signed, numbered 5.4.3.7
