Description from the seller
Antique walnut study file cabinet/classifier with front closure – Late 19th century
Elegant and rare Italian professional filing cabinet from the late 1800s, crafted in walnut with refined original brass hardware and distinctive onion-shaped feet with wheels.
The piece features a slender silhouette and particularly harmonious proportions, with eight spacious drawers ideal for documents, collections, cards, photographs, or for contemporary use in a study and home.
Solid construction and artisanal quality, with construction details typical of Italian cabinetmaking at the end of the 19th century. Warm, authentic patina that lends great charm and presence.
During its long life, seven of the eight drawers have been rebuilt and replaced in a harmonious and respectful manner of the furniture’s aesthetics and original characteristics, leaving its formal balance and functionality unchanged.
Notable is the absence of the original lock, a circumstance that does not impair the usability or decorative value of the furnishing.
