Commander - 6100DS World radio

Commander 6100 DS, multiband radio made in Japan, circa 1980. A hard-to-find model and highly desirable for its wealth of features. It blends the typical characteristics of a world receiver with others normally reserved for a radio scanner. In fact, in addition to FM and AM it also receives Airband, FM Low, VHF 135-175 MHz (including the 2-meter amateur band 144-146 MHz), and Shortwave. It also features squelch, fine tuning for shortwave, digital frequency counter, needle signal indicator, tone control, two FM memories tunable with separate handy sliders, and backlighting. The dimensions are compact, even more so considering the rich equipment, about 36 x 24 x 12 cm. The antenna is complete and the radio receives on all bands. In testing it performed very well with amateur radio, air traffic, and local voice traffic. The audio is powerful and all controls respond, including the squelch, which probably due to the long period of inactivity would need cleaning/revision for optimal operation. Aesthetically the radio is in excellent condition considering its age. The power cord is included.
