Description from the seller

Art Deco–style glazed ceramic polar bear bookend.

Original glazed ceramic bookend depicting a polar bear seated on a base molded to imitate an ice floe. The figure is characterized by essential and volumetric lines that confer the animal an elegant sculptural and decorative presence, typical of ceramic productions in Art Déco taste and early 20th-century modernist.

The bear is depicted in a vigilant and natural pose, with its head turned upward and the snout slightly raised, in an attitude that evokes the strength and majesty of the animal in its natural environment. The simplified shaping of the forms is enhanced by a delicate glossy glaze in ivory, pale pink and ice-blue tones, which accentuates the sculptural effect of the sculpture.

Designed as a bookend, the object combines practical function and ornamental value, making it ideal for bookshelves, studies, and spaces furnished with vintage or collectible taste.

Thanks to its strong decorative presence and refined ceramic craftsmanship, this bookend represents an interesting example of animal-inspired home decor.
