A RARE Chinese rectangular incised “lotus” DUAN inkstone and box (Huang-huali). The rectangular ink stone is carved with a lotus on the trough of the inkwell, the reverse is carved with a poetic inscription, followed by a signature of “shui zhu cun ren-水竹邨人”. The inkstone from Xu SHICHANG, the SECOND President of the Republic of China. The wooden box and cover possibly are Huang Huali. Xu Shichang (Chinese: 徐世昌; courtesy name (号): shui zhu cun ren-水竹邨人, Juren - 菊人, 20 October 1855 - 5 June 1939) was a Chinese politician who served as the President of China from 10 October 1918 to 2 June 1922. In 1918, Xu Shichang was elected as the second President of the Republic of China with the support of the Anfu Parliament controlled by Duan Qirui. A member of the Anhui clique, he was the only permanent president of the Beiyang government to be a civilian; his presidency was also the longest of the Warlord Era. Previously, he was Minister of the Cabinet of the Imperial Cabinet during the Qing dynasty. 19/20th Century. D : 21,5 x 13 x 2,6 cm. Good condition, with few small chips.
Rare Pierre à encre chinoise rectangulaire gravée « lotus » en Pierre de Duan avec sa boîte (Huang-huali).
La pierre à encre rectangulaire est sculptée d’un lotus dans le réservoir creusé ; le revers est gravé d’une inscription poétique, suivie de la signature « shui zhu cun ren - 水竹邨人 ».
La pierre à encre provient de Xu Shichang, le DEUXIÈME président de la République de Chine.
La boîte et le couvercle en bois seraient possiblement en Huang Huali.
Xu Shichang (chinois : 徐世昌 ; nom de courtoisie : shui zhu cun ren - 水竹邨人, Juren - 菊人 ; 20 octobre 1855 – 5 juin 1939) était un homme politique chinois ayant exercé la fonction de président de la Chine du 10 octobre 1918 au 2 juin 1922.
En 1918, Xu Shichang fut élu deuxième président de la République de Chine avec le soutien du Parlement Anfu contrôlé par Duan Qirui. Membre de la clique de l’Anhui, il fut le seul président permanent du gouvernement de Beiyang à être un civil ; sa présidence fut également la plus longue de l’ère des Seigneurs de guerre. Auparavant, il avait été ministre du Cabinet impérial durant la dynastie Qing.
