Description from the seller

Vintage tin box "Antique Casket" - Kemps & Barker & Dobsons - Victoria & Albert Museum Reproduction - 60s/70s

Elegant Vintage Tin Box "Antique Casket" – English Manufacture (60s/70s)
Delightful vintage tin box for collection, of English manufacture, dating from the period around the 1960s to 1970s. Originally this elegant casket was intended to contain a refined selection of Kemps chocolate biscuits and Barker & Dobsons chocolates (the lot is sold empty).

The box is distinguished by its rich decorative veneer: it is entirely lithographed with splendid gallant and romantic rococo scenes, paired with detailed still lifes on the shorter sides. This is the faithful reproduction of a famous French snuff box in gold and enamel made in Paris around 1760-1761, reproduced at the time by courtesy of the prestigious Victoria and Albert Museum of London (as evidenced by the inscriptions and trademarks "SK" and "BD" stamped on the bottom).

A vintage piece of great charm, perfect for collectors of advertising tin boxes, lovers of vintage objets d'art, or as a refined decorative element.
