Background and Context:
Gilded Fragments
This series combines traditional draftsmanship with contemporary visual culture. Female figures, portraits, and iconic characters emerge from a dialogue between line, surface, and empty space.
Set against a metallic golden ground, large areas intentionally remain unfinished. The figures do not appear as complete representations but rather as fragments of memory, imagination, or narratives still in the process of becoming. Visible traces of the creative process—construction lines, omissions, and raw passages—become an essential part of the work itself.
Drawing from manga aesthetics, pop culture, Asian influences, and classical figurative drawing, the series explores themes of presence, identity, and impermanence. Existing somewhere between sketch and finished artwork, the images invite viewers to complete the missing parts with their own imagination.
Emma Wildfang is a young Pop-Art street artist. Her artworks are scattered in collections all over the world. She manages to create a very special vintage style. After attending the master class, the artist has been self-taught since 2002. Her constant search for new techniques and means of expression made it almost imperative for her to now also deal with spatial structures as a sculptor. Due to the restlessness and instability of her creative process she lives up to the name Wildfang. However, in all of her works, Wildfang does not seek the perfect, symmetrically idealized work, but finds instead finds beauty in the fragmented, in the detail, and in the enigmatic. Her way of working is to find perfection in the imperfect.
The artwork comes directly from the studio of the artist.
