For weighing wagon loads there are several weighing points at which the wagon including its load can be weighed. These weighing points should be calibrated regularly. For calibrating the weighing points, so-called calibration wagons are used. The calibration wagons have a fixed calibrated weight. Optionally, additional weights can be added to the wagon so that the weight can be changed over a wide range.
The calibration wagons have no brakes because wear on the brake blocks could affect the weight of the wagons. The calibration wagons are usually accompanied by a tool wagon in which the extra calibration weights are transported. The wagons were built from 1949 in the Uerdingen wagon works.
