Wall-mounted, extendable coat rack from the early 1900s (1910–1920), crafted in solid wood in a faux-bamboo style, with a closed size of about 15 × 46 cm and an extended width of about 100 cm, originating from the United Kingdom and in good used condition with minor age-related marks.
Description from the seller
Expandable English wall-mounted coat rack dating from the early decades of the 20th century.
Made of solid wood and turned in the fashionable “faux bamboo” style that became very popular in Great Britain during the Edwardian era, this elegant wall-mounted luggage rack combines functionality, craftsmanship, and decorative appeal.
The ingeniously designed accordion structure allows you to adjust the rack to the space available: closed it measures about 15 × 46 cm, while fully extended it reaches a notable width of about 100 cm. The original mounting eyes are present, allowing the future owner to fix the rack to the desired extension.
The upper grids were originally designed to support hats, while the lower hooks comfortably hold coats, jackets, scarves, or bags.
It represents a fascinating example of early 20th-century English domestic furnishing, equally suited to a period interior, a country house, a shop, an entrance, or the display of a collection.
Period: Early 1900s
Country: United Kingdom
Material: Wood (beech or cherry)
Weight: 300 g
Measurements: 55 × 51 cm
