AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Charming antique Turkmen saddle rug
Woven in wool on a deep red ground, this charming antique Turkmen saddle rug features a traditional composition adorned with stylized gul medallions and geometric motifs characteristic of the textile art of Central Asian nomadic peoples. The main border harmoniously frames the central field decorated with repetitive medallions in shades of red, ivory, brown and navy blue. The ends are embellished with small protective motifs typical of Turkmen productions intended for horse equipment and the daily use of nomadic tribes.
This piece bears authentic artisanal craftsmanship, with a beautiful patina and wear consistent with its age, giving it a great deal of character. Its elongated format also allows decorative use as a corridor rug, in front of a chest, or as a wall hanging.
Dimensions: 70 x 130 cm
Origin: Turkmenistan / Central Asia
Period: First half of the 20th century
Materials: Hand-knotted wool
Condition: Good overall wear, with wear and small deformations typical of age, visible in the photographs.
