Wooden walking stick with antique style, estimated period 1940–1950, 85 cm long, made in Italy.
Description from the seller
Walking cane. It features a handle in the shape of an inverted 'L' (or a hinted hook), ergonomic and contoured, that follows the natural shape of the organic material used. The surface shows the typical rough, veined, and pearly texture. The body of the cane is straight, cylindrical, and polished, with a warm brown coloration that highlights the longitudinal grain of the oak/chestnut wood. At the junction between the handle and the shaft there is a small dark joining collar; it is fitted to the wooden shaft and there is a thickened pressed leather ring or collar decorated with small relief motifs or gadrooning, serving both as a structural reinforcement element and as an aesthetic finish. At the lower end a modern protective non-slip rubber is applied (probably a subsequent addition for practical use). Handle: deer horn (stag or roe deer). It is clearly recognizable by the characteristic “rosette” (the rough bony base) visible on the upper part and by the grooved and porous outer surface. Mid-20th century period, made in Italy ( Alpine area ), typical of mountainous and wooded regions (such as Northern Italy), where hunting and hiking have a strong tradition tied to wood and horn craftsmanship. Size: 85 cm long.
