Empatia arises from the union of the great tradition of blown glass and Artemide's LED technology.
The strong interest in the expressive potential of the material led to collaboration with master glassmakers, to gain full control of the glass's distinctive plasticity and to work on the balance between surface and light, between delicate densities and transparency.

The result is clear, pure objects that, through artisanal craftsmanship, are in effect unique pieces. Transparency and opacity are skillfully balanced to obtain a glass that reflects and diffuses light without glare, without losing efficiency. The outcome is an optical engine whose heart is a high-performance LED light engine, which is separated from the glass-emissive body to favor thermal and performance efficiency.

The light is controlled with maximum efficiency and guided to the glass diffuser through a transparent light pipe with an extremely low absorption coefficient. The glass features tiny dots, something unusual for blown glass.
