Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A pair of Bronze Age bronze leaf-shaped arrowheads in fair condition, each with a broad central mid-rib and a short tang, measuring approximately 11.5–13.3 cm in length and dating to circa 1200–600 BC, with patination and earthly encrustations.
Description from the seller
A pair of Bronze Age bronze arrowheads, both featuring a leaf-shaped blade, although of varying sizes, with a broad central mid-rib and a short tang. Patination and earthly encrustations to the surface. Chips to the edges of the blades.
In ancient times a number of nomadic populations, such as the Medes and the Kassites, settled in the Western Asiatic area. Due to the nomadic nature of the tribes, none of the bronzes were of great size, since it was required for them to be light and portable. Excavated items often included weapons, tools, and finials, as well as small amulets and fittings. Everyday objects are also found including pins and bracelets. Their artwork mainly comprises ornaments, vessels and weapons. Archaeological evidence suggests that the bronze objects often serve ceremonial functions given their funerary contexts.
Measurements: (circa) L 11.5cm x W 1.5cm; L 13.3cm x W 1.9cm
Provenance: Ex. London Collection, formed between 1990 - present.
