Description from the seller
With glazed ceramic vase by Jan van der Vaart with two openings at the top. Unique specimen. Published by Makkum Linea. In very good condition with a very small chip on the underside.
Dimensions
22 x 17 x 17 cm.
We pack the vase with utmost care and ship insured up to €500 in case of damage during transport or loss.
Jan van der Vaart was already regarded during his lifetime as one of the most important Dutch ceramicists of the 20th century. As the founder of a geometrically abstract direction within post-war ceramics, he was particularly influential both nationally and internationally. His work is very recognizable due to its idiosyncratic character and the logical and consistent development of his artistic convictions.
His works are housed in several major internationally leading museums such as:
MoMA New York, Victoria and Albert Museum London,
Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen Rotterdam,
Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and in private collections.
At the moment there is an overview exhibition of his work at the Kunstmuseum Den Haag from 15 November 2025 to 25 October 2026.
